Danya, thanks for letting me stop by to share. ~ Mari

  This modern tabletop vignette of pure white and metallic gold is set against bold swaths of color. Isn't orange and pick a great design choice for art in a contemporary or modern space?

  A white living room is amped up with a melon-toned pink and brilliant orange. A traditional light fixture is turned into a modern pendant light with color. Long fringed shawls add a splash of orange to white slip-covered chairs.

  Sometimes we long for just a pop or two of color in a white space. Here, in a tabletop vignette that's done with three books, one each in hot pink, warm sand and bright orange. It's a great look.

  This amazingly colorful eclectic bedroom goes orange and pink with toile wallpaper in a Chinoiserie pattern. It makes for a wonderful background for the lovely mix of styles, patterns and colors in the space.

  A lovely pink hue adorns the walls of this contemporary bath. Pops of orange and melon work beautifully, but it would be so easy to change out the towels for an entirely new color scheme.

  A comfy neutral sectional gets wonderful splashes of pink, orange and golden yellow with a lovely array of decorative pillows.

  A wonderful custom-built white daybed with floral upholstered back is at once chic and comfortable. I love the use of several stylish orange and pink combinationsófloral, stripes and zigzags.

  This girl's bedroom is so pretty in pink and orange. Kids lamps like the one seen here are available right now in lots of popular colors. I love the branches and birds design. It even has a bird finial on top. How cool is the ladybug table?

Fashion Friday : Clutch & Run!

So it's still sumer {in case you haven't noticed}.  Sure, all of the "back-to-school" campaigns would like us to believe that summer is over and fall is here, but I'm still sporting my bright summer colors, stripes & sandals.

To continue celebrating summer, I've collected a few of my favorite clutches!  Perfect for day or night, these trendy little, light weight and versatile pouches can add pizzaz to any outfit!

Ranging from $12.00 - $200.00, surely you can find one to fit any budget.  I just love #1 & #2, they just scream summer - isn't that anchor adorable?  And the woven chevron print, what a great summer touch.  I think #4 would be great for evening.  I actually own #3 and love it.  {I get compliments every time I leave the house with it.}

What's your favorite?

Hubby & I are off to San Francisco for the weekend to see Les Miserables on broadway - I'm sure I'll have plenty to share via instagram if you'd like to follow along.  Have a wonderful weekend & Happy Friday!!

Fashion Friday : Necklines that Shine

I've never been one for gaudy necklaces, but recently the bold colorful jewels that are gracing necklines have caught my eye {in a much more appealing way}.  I love the pop of color, the feminine designs and the chunky shapes.  From $18 - $200, you'll find something to fit any budget.  Go ahead - dress up that simple white button up, a plain tee or that dress that's just missing something!

{The above JCrew look alike is a fraction of the price}

Whimsy & Delight

Today has been a whimsical day...a day of dreaming in white, pink & mint.

It must be the sunshine.

I'd love to be sitting on a patio in France, sipping a cappuccino and indulging in a homemade pastry.

Riding a bike along a cobble stone road in Italy.

Basking in the sun on a boat in St. Lucia.

Or even reading a novel on a roof top in Greece.

Oh the dreams are endless!

These photos beautifully capture my mood...

Sweet 25!

Happy Monday Friends!

So this isn't going to be an average week for me.  On Thursday, I celebrate 25 years of life and I couldn't be more excited!  I admit, birthdays just aren't as exciting as they were as a kid {dreaming up my birthday party months in advance, telling the world they're invited to celebrate, and popping that party hat atop my blonde blonde little head and screaming at the top of my raspy little lungs IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!  What can I say?  I was one exuberant kid.} For whatever reason, every birthday after 20 has included tears of "oh my goodness!  I'm becoming an adult!"  {I assure you, Hubby has heard his fair share of birthday woes.}  But this year feels different.  I don't know if it's the whole new life, new season thing or if it's simply because I've survived half {blonde moment....oops!} a quarter of a century and I have a whole lotta thankfulness in my heart for what God has done in my little life, but whatever the reason, I'm excited!  Forget sweet 16!  Sweet 25 is on it's way and I'm ready to embrace it!  So in honor of "Birthday Week" I'm bringing to you a few fav's from the internet....

This tangerine bag from Francesca's caught my eye last month and I've been thinking of it ever since.
Perfect compliment to those bright spring outfits, headed our way, huh??

I'm a major fan of these "Love Candy" prints by Jen Ramos of Made by Girl.

Her "Blogs & Coffee" print is a favorite too....

And since we're talking prints, this "Know Your Value" print from The Wonderfully Made Boutique is just too cute for words!  {I simply don't have enough wall space for all of the prints I love.}

Also from the *Wonderfully Made Boutique, their signature Friendship Bracelet is just adorable {and in my favorite color}!

I love the Glory Fringe necklace from *31Bits.
It would go with anything.

And lastly, I have to say that I adore these Chevron Mini Custom iPad Cases from Pencil Shavings Studio on Etsy.

What's your favorite internet find these days???

*These are two of my favorite causes.  Visit their sites to learn more.  All purchases go towards their cause.

Life In Full Bloom

Hi Friends,

It's Monday and I feel I'm still adjusting to the time change...its a silly thing, isn't it?  We had a wonderful weekend - hiking, exploring more of the California Coast and worshipping with our friends at Calvary Monterey.  I wrote this post over the weekend and wanted to share it with you this morning. Hope it encourages your heart on this sleepy Monday.  Lots of love....

"Bloom where you're planted."  I've heard the phrase many times, but it took on a different meaning a few days ago, as I sat in my dining room, gazing at a vase of fresh cut flowers I had just purchased from the market.

If you know me, you know that I adore flowers.  I worked at a flower shop in high school and I quickly learned to make all sorts of things with the delicate blooms - corsages, boutonnieres, fresh arrangements, funeral sprays, wedding bouquets, etc.  I loved it!  As an employee at the shop, I had to take a few classes on floral arranging.  I learned things such as how to properly cut and prepare the flowers before using them, how to feed and nurture them before adding them to an arrangement, how to pair one flower with another so that they both shine, how to arrange them so that each flower is seen and every bloom has the space to expand to it's fullest, and how to keep each bloom from overshadowing another.  You see, when you put together an arrangement of just cut flowers, chances are, the blooms are still tight - they haven't opened completely.  If cared for properly, each bloom will open and expand.  One by one, petals will unfold, showing the world all it has to offer - layers of color, texture, and smell.

I found beautiful pink ranunculus and orange anemones at the market for $5 a bunch.  I couldn't resist.  They seem to grow easily here on the West Coast; you rarely see them in Florida.  If you do, they are at least $5 a stem.  Eeesh!  Anyhow, I came home and arranged them in a pitcher of fresh water.  I cut each stem carefully and cleanly, giving it a specific length and a designated place in the vase.  Happy with my creation, I sat the arrangement on the coffee table and walked away.  It was almost 2:00 and I still hadn't had lunch, so I pulled out left overs and sat down to eat.  The apartment was quiet.  Sun was brightly shining through the windows and Blakely was sitting at my feet.  Enjoying the peace, my eyes fixed themselves on the flowers.  Already the blooms were beginning to open.  Somehow they were more beautiful now than just a few moments ago.  Bright pink petals were becoming more relaxed as they began to settle into their new home.

{Day 1}

I feel much like these flowers.  Plucked out of my home and placed in a totally new environment.  Prepared, pruned and arranged in such a way that will allow me to grow into my fullest potential.  Paired with a man who will encourage me to shine.  Hydrated & sun-fed so that I may grow strong.  Strategically placed so that I will expand.  And layer by delicate layer, I'm blooming into all that I was made to be - revealing God's perfect design.  Bursting with color and layers of intricate textures, emitting a sweet, sweet fragrance and exploding with life!

{Day 2}

I'm not saying that I've arrived, but I can feel I'm getting closer.  This time last year, I was very much in that seedling process - going through painful growth spurts and pruning sessions.  God has done SO much in my heart over the past few years, and looking at that beautiful vase of God made flowers gave me hope that I am headed towards beauty in the fullest.

{Day 3}

Friends, be encouraged.  You too have a place in this world.  Bloom where you're planted and know that beauty is the end result of a life sought after Him.
