Home : Pumpkins Go Chic

Fall is in full swing in our home and I love it!  From spiced candles and treats, to a fire-lit living room at night, the only thing that's missing is fall decor.  {I sold all of my stuff in FL before our big move.}

Today, I picked up a few pumpkins at my local grocery store and hope to make them chic.

From glitter to paint, the options are endless.  I'm not sure just how I plan on displaying my fabulous pumpkins, but I'll be sure to share once I decide.

Here are a few photos of inspiration...

Home : Shelf Lining

Fabric, wrapping paper, and wallpaper - what do they all have in common?  They've all been used to line drawers.

While I love the idea of dazzling your drawers and giving them a personal touch with liner paper, lets face it - it's so incredibly difficult to find pretty liner paper.  I've searched high and low for attractive liner paper and I always end up empty handed.

{Truth be told, I saw this on pinterest and was shocked - it's the only cute lining paper I've seen, but it could easily get pricey trying to line an entire set of drawers @ $25/6 pieces.}

I admire my girlfriends who modpodge fabric or wrapping paper to the bottom of their drawers, but I don't have the time or desire to deal with the mess of all that.

My favorite method?  Wallpaper.

It's thick enough, sturdy enough and comes in an array of beautiful designs.  And it's not impossible to find a bargain if you have a lot of lining to do.

I've seen tutorials on using spray adhesive, but I recently read that double sided tape does the job just fine.  So girlfriend, find yourself a drawer that needs lining.  Find a chic wallpaper print and get to work!  Those drawers are just dying for a facelift!

Decor : Reese Witherspoon's Ojai Escape

My latest issue of Elle Decor has been sitting all lonely on my kitchen counter, just waiting to be adored.  I finally had a moment to show her some love and I found these beautiful photos of Reese Witherspoon's Ojai {just north of Los Angeles} home.

So rustic, so elegant, so livable.

I love all of the home's natural elements - from the wood beams, the abundance of natural light, and the beautiful attention paid to architectural detail.  What a special home!

Take a look...

{The above room is my favorite - I love the archway, the cute little closed and the pink accents against various hues of white.}

{What a fabulous place for a family brunch!}

Head to ElleDecor to read more about the home's history, the story behind the decor elements and see the other beautiful photos.

Home : Decorating With Statement Pieces

Every room in your home is worth a conversation.  What better way to get people talking than by adding one major statement piece?  {And by "major," I mean awesome.}

A statement piece is that one unique item that the eye quickly finds once entering a room.  It's not necessarily the focal point of the room, but rather eye-catching.  If it's not part of the focal point, be sure that it doesn't distract from the focal point, but it enhances the room as a whole.  It's that bold piece that makes a statement about your personal style.

Your "piece" could be a collection of one item - like several of the mercury glass owls you see below, or an every day item doused in bright glossy paint. {I once saw an assortment of old cameras that someone had collected from thrift stores and spray painted them solid glossy colors - it was so unique to the person who made them, yet gave the space that extra something special.}  It could be a handmade piece of furniture or something you found at a boutique or an antique fair.  Or a wall fixture that draws your eye up, making the room seem larger than life.

Statement Pieces

Statement pieces are great cause they could be that finishing touch to a room that's been lacking luster, or it could be the jumpstart to the inspiration you've been searching for.  These special pieces are meant to tell a story, so have fun with it!

What are your favorite statement pieces in your home?  Link up if you've blogged about them!! I'd love to see.
