Wingback Beauties

It's Friday AND it's a holiday weekend - yay!  I hope you have fabulous plans for your extended off time.  Hubby and I were planning to stay the weekend in a nearby beach town; but given the fact that we're expected to experience Tropical Storm Lee till Tuesday-ish, I think we'll make it a cozy weekend in.  I'm all for cozy.  Hot tea, board games & yummy goodies to munch on sounds just perfect to me!

I've recently acquired this less-than-glamourous antique, wingback chair, and I have grand plans of restoring it to all it's intended beauty.  I've always been a bit ambitious when it comes to just about anything, but even I have to admit that restoring her (yes, I strongly believe it's a "her") is going to be quite the endeavor.  I've never reupholstered a wingback chair anything, so this should be interesting.  If you have any tips, tidbits of valuable information, or tutorial resources you'd like to share, I'd love to see!  Here are a few of my latest inspirations.  Happy Weekend!

The Golden Touch

I don't know if it's because fall is on it's way, but I'm loving light and airy spaces with a touch of gold!  A little goes a long way, but gold has the ability to add a hint of sophistication to any room.  Try adding a touch of it in a mirror, a chandelier, the legs of an antique arm chair, a coffee table, a gold-leafed painting or even spray a few candlesticks.  The options are endless.  Here's a little eye candy for the day.

Anthropologie Lust

I have yet to come across someone who doesn't just LOVE Anthropologie.  I don't know about you, but I can't help but be overwhelmed with inspiration the moment I step foot into one of their stores - something about it is just so creative and organic, comforting and welcoming, functional yet beautiful all the same time.  My dream job would be to travel the world and find the pieces that grace their window displays and catalog shoots.  I once read an article (I believe it was in Elle Decor Magazine) about the man who does just that - he literally gets paid to travel the most unique and exotic places throughout the world in search of those one-of-a-kind pieces that their store is brimming with.  What a job!

Here are a few of my favorite outfits, accessories, & furnishings from their March 2011 online catalog.  Hope this inspires you today as much as it did me!

Welcome to the Pink Peony!

A little background before I get started....

I've always dreamed of professionally doing something in the world of design &/or fashion, and my sister and I have tossed around talk of opening a cute little Anthropologie meets West Elm boutique in the future. So with all these design thoughts swirling around in my head, I thought I'd let a few of those thoughts escape via blog.  While I hope that blogging will be an inspiration to my readers (should I be lucky enough to acquire few), I hope that one day soon, these thoughts will turn into an online store, next a boutique, and then maybe a chain across the country (What can I say?  I'm a dreamer!). We'll see. In the mean time, here's to blogging about the one-of-a-kind things I love, the rooms I dream to create, the antiques that make me drool, the recipes that expand my waistline, and the clothes/accessories that make me giddy. Enjoy!!
