Heart : Troubles of Tomorrow

I don't know about you, but I'm a major worrier.  I'm guilty of sometimes thinking contemplating worrying obsessing over a circumstance, past happenings or the future ahead.  And it's so silly when I think about all of the energy wasted on worrying, but it's a battle I face, none the less.

I've allowed worry to manifest itself in all forms - physical, mental, spiritual and emotional and it's so not good.

As a teen in high school I used to wake up in the middle of the night - my heart racing, my skin dewy with a cold sweat, my arms and legs shaking - terrified for absolutely no reason.  {a rude awakening to a peaceful night's rest}  And it would sometimes take hours to settle my mind and heart before I could go back to sleep.  Panic/anxiety attacks were a normal part of my high school existence.

While it's been years since I've had these attacks on a regular basis, I'v had to train my mind and heart to refocus on great verses like 2 Timothy 1:7 {For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.}, and to look at situations for what they are and not "what they could be," however.  I still have my moments of weakness.

I have moments of regret over the past. I have moments of fear when thinking of an uncertain future.  I have moments of panic when imagining life without my husband or my family.  I have moments.  But that's just it - let it be a moment, and no more.

Yesterday morning a lady in our Tuesday morning study brought Matthew 6:34 to our attention, and it was so fitting for me this week.  A beautiful reminder that today has it's troubles and tomorrow will have it's own, but troubles or no troubles - God is greater than it all!

Whether you're a worrier or simply too focused on something you have no control over - give it up and live life for today!  Life's too short.

Lots of love...
